Security Service Federal Credit Union is not only committed to serving its members’ financial needs, but serving the communities where it operates. Through volunteerism and corporate sponsorships, SSFCU supports many worthy causes such as the United Way, American Red Cross,
USO, Army and Air Force troop recognition programs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and numerous other community and civic programs. In addition, Security Service is an underwriter and offers volunteer support for Public Television stations in both Colorado and Texas.
SSFCU’s Volunteer Corps consists of over 250 employees and dedicates hundreds of hours each year volunteering at local community events and serving charitable organizations. In 2003, the Volunteer Corps participated in 15 events that raised over $500,000 to benefit various community organizations such as the Make A Wish Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, American Heart Association, Junior Achievement and many others.
Committed to strong corporate citizenship and following the credit union philosophy of “people helping people”, SSFCU’s two main annual fundraisers include Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital in Texas and Easter Seals in Colorado. Since 1986, Security Service has contributed more than $847,500 to the Children’s Miracle Network, benefiting the San Antonio children’s hospital.
Security Service Federal Credit Union began in 1956 with eight members and $25 in deposits. This not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution was founded to serve the financial needs of the U.S. Air Force Security Service Command. Today, Security Service has expanded its charter to serve over 500,000 in more than 720 businesses and organizations.
With 21 locations around the San Antonio area and 7 facilities in Colorado, Security Service is the largest credit union in San Antonio and the 10th largest in the nation. In addition, SSFCU now serves members inside Loop 410, Medina, Uvalde and Atascosa counties as well as South Bexar County, South El Paso County and other geographic locations. SSFCU will continue to capitalize on our strength of providing world-class service to its members that has been the credit union’s tradition as a credit union since 1956.
