Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak is a Seventeenth Coast Guard District (D17) unit on beautiful Kodiak Island approximately 250 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska. The Air Station was commissioned as an Air Detachment April 17, 1947 with one PBY Catalina aircraft, seven pilots, and thirty crewmen. It represented the first permanent Coast Guard aviation resource in Alaska. The Air Station is the major tenant of Integrated Support Command (ISC) Kodiak, and the largest Coast Guard command in D17 and the entire Pacific Area (PACAREA). The present complement of HC-130H's, HH-60J's, HH-65A's aids in completing our mission and saving lives.ISCA provides a wide variety of services in direct support of Coast Guard activities throughout the West Coast. Among these are the management of approx 1200 CG owned Housing units, shore side AT/FP for CG Island, warehousing, health care services, worklife services, transportation, operation of non-appropriated fund activities (excluding the CG Island Exchange), and personnel support services. Facilities maintenance is provided to all tenant commands on CG Island, and industrial support is provided throughout the West Coast.
CG Island is home to a variety of tenant commands including: Commander, Pacific Area; Commander, Maintenance & Logistics Command Pacific; Commander, Joint Interagency Task Force West; Marine Safety Office San Francisco Bay; Training Team One; Naval Engineering Support Unit Alameda; Electronics Support Unit Alameda; and homeport for 4 High Endurance Coast Guard Cutters: CGC SHERMAN, CGC MORGENTHAU, CGC MUNRO, and the CGC BOUTWELL.
