In 1887, some officers in the United States Army stationed at Fort
Leavenworth, KS founded Armed Forces Insurance Exchange, or AFI, so
that military personnel serving on the frontier could have fire
insurance. Since then, AFI has seen that all of our uniformed services
should be able to have affordable and reliable insurance protection,
and thus has expanded its eligibility. The only group of people that
AFI services is military members, families included. Servicing this
select membership allows AFI to offer excellent rates and a safer
financial position.
The board at AFI consists entirely of active duty and retired military
personnel. Therefore members are given due representation by their own
peers.
The headquarters of AFI have never left Ft. Leavenworth since 1887.
AFI has done "one best thing" since then as well, which is
to serve and protect the men and women of the armed forces, just as
they have done our great country. They have covered Military Personnel
here and abroad during war- and peace- time. The
website
(
www.afi.org) provides 24/7 access
from anywhere. AFI is completely commited to the people of our
military.
